Job Summary and Requirements

AMENDMENT - Extending the closing date to October 30, 2024.

This competition is for one part-time term position working 60 hours bi-weekly until March 31, 2026.

AtTourism and Culture, we are a dynamic team of professionals dedicated to the Yukons vibrant tourism, arts, museums, heritage, historic sites, and archival communities and their contributions to the Yukons quality of life.

Reporting to the Art Curator, the Visual Art Project Coordinator oversees Visual Art program projects including art competitions and commissions, purchases and license agreements, promotional and training initiatives, and manages the Government of Yukon’s public art collections. The position is responsible for implementing collection management systems and oversees public art installations, documentation, interpretation, maintenance, and restorations, including managing associated contracts.

The Visual Art Project Coordinator is also the main resource within the Department for the art commissioning and art copyright practices and contributes research, expertise, administrative and communications support to the Visual Art program.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how your education, work, and/or volunteer experience and related duties align with the essential qualifications listed below.   • Post-secondary degree or diploma in arts administration, fine arts, museum studies, conservation, collections management or related field;
  • Demonstrated experience in the arts sector;
  • Demonstrated experience in collections and/or project management;
  • Experience working with contracts or agreements is an asset;
  • Experience updating and maintaining collection databases is an asset.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant coursework along with recent work experience may be equally considered.

  • Knowledge of the Yukon arts and culture sector;
  • Ability to manage workload with critical deadlines and changing priorities;
  • Project management and coordination skills, including collaborating with partners, working within budgets and meeting deadlines;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to maintain professionalism, ethical standards and confidentiality;

Additional Information

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Yukon Class 5 Driving Licence;

Job Requirement(s):

  • Travel within the Yukon may be required;
  • Occasional lifting of boxes (10 - 15 kg.).

Relocation and interview expenses will not be considered for this position.
