Who we are…

The Yukon Water Board Secretariat is a branch within Executive Council Office providing professional, technical, and administrative support necessary for the proper conduct of the business of the Yukon Water Board. The Secretariat supports the Board which is an independent administrative tribunal in making informed licensing decisions which provide for the conservation, development, and utilization of waters in a manner that provides for optimum benefit for all Canadians and for the residents of Yukon in particular.

The opportunity…

The Yukon Water Board Secretariat is inviting applications for this critical position on its team. The Technical Advisor coordinates and integrates technical inputs from external resources and also provides internal technical review and recommendations to staff and members of the Board on Type A and complex Type B water licence applications and plans. It is essential that the candidate be able to understand large and technologically complex projects.

Essential Qualifications

  • Science or engineering degree (an advanced degree is preferred) in a water resource-related discipline,
  • Experience conducting technical reviews of developmental projects to identify impacts to water, preferably in a northern environment,
  • Experience preparing reports and making presentations to inform a non-technical audience.
  • Experience with the procurement of contractors and contract management,
  • Membership with a professional association or eligible for registration with Engineers Yukon (EY) as a Professional Engineer is not required but will be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional information

Conditions of employment: valid Yukon Class 5 driver's license.

Job requirements: travel within Yukon.
