This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the community of Pelly Crossing in the beautiful Yukon.

About this community

Pelly Crossing is located on the Pelly river in rural Yukon along the North Klondike highway between Carmacks and Stewart Crossing. Services and amenities are limited. Here, residents can access essential healthcare services close to home, ensuring that even in isolated locations, health and well-being remains within reach. Nursing staff have the opportunity to work closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide care all together in one location.

This opportunity

Reporting to the Nurse in Charge, this position provides reception services and administrative assistance to ensure effective and efficient support to programs, services, and activities of Community Nursing. The Pelly Crossing Health Center is a fast-paced environment that requires strong organizational skills. As the first point of contact for members of the community accessing health services, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality is required.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Experience providing client-centred services in a front facing public environment, preferably in a health care or related setting.
  • Experience providing a broad range of administrative support in an office environment, including answering phones and directing calls, collaborating with other offices, services and supports, collecting and processing financial transactions, e.g., invoicing, arranging, and taking payments
  • Recent experience using a variety of computer software (Microsoft, Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience maintaining paper and electronic file management systems, including data entry
  • Experience working with sensitive information in highly confidential settings

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • TB Screening,
  • RCMP security screening vulnerable sector check,
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence,
  • WHMIS 2015 (within one month of hire),
  • HIPMA (within one month of hire).

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

  • This position works in an office setting.
  • Extended periods of time are spent working on a computer preparing correspondence, reports, etc. (60% of the time).
  • A large part of the job requires the incumbent to work with sensitive, confidential personal information.
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs.
  • Must live and work in Pelly Crossing; housing is not provided
