Full-Time Appointment

This position is designated as one that may require a different work week and\or hours of work. However, the workweek will consist of forty (40) hours per week.

Responsibilities

The Parking Enforcement Clerk is responsible for issuing parking tickets and arranging towing/seizure of vehicles. Enforcement is pursuant to the Motor Vehicle Act as well as specific laws and regulations pertaining to parking. The Parking Enforcement Clerk will monitor assigned areas of specific concern regarding parking complaints and advise of any potential parking or public safety concerns to the appropriate departments. The Parking Enforcement Clerk completes all appropriate paperwork, in addition assisting the public with appropriate and concise instructions and answering visitor inquiries.

  • Issue City of Greater Sudbury parking infractions to those who contravene the parking regulations;
  • Issue Laurentian University parking warnings;
  • Report any habitual violations to the Director of Business Development or her/his designate;
  • Arrange for the towing of vehicles from Laurentian;
  • Provide analysis of trends in parking lots;
  • Collect money from pay and display machines as well as meters;
  • Provide technical support in order to service pay and display machines, meters and parking gates as well as prepare work orders, as required;
  • Write thorough and accurate reports and maintain computerized records of parking warnings and infractions;
  • Record signage deficiencies
  • Answer inquiries from the University community as well as from outside sources, including vendors;
  • On occasion may be required to attend court for parking infraction disputes
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Trade and/or Certification or Diploma and/or in Law and Security or the equivalent in related experience;
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related expirience;
  • Possession of a current "G" Ontario Driver's licence in good standing;
  • Good data entry skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of the Modern Access Parking System and HOTSPOT;
  • Good sound of judgment, public safety and a high level customer service;
  • Punctual, self-disciplined, proven ability to work independently;
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, CPR 'C' with defibrillator training;
  • Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English is required.

Official University hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during and including September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during and including May to August, amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
