The Manager, Administrative Services position is broad in scope and the incumbent is a key partner with the Dean in ensuring the successful administration of the Faculty. The Manager, Administrative Services has deep knowledge of processes involved in academic program administration and human resources, and leverages this background to provide advice to the Dean on a wide range of matters. Responsible to manage the administrative team within the Office of the Dean, ensuring the day-to-day services are completed to the utmost professional standard through the delegation, assignment and execution of various responsibilities and monitors, identifies and makes recommendations for operational efficiencies. Provides guidance on all matters related to the human resource management of unionized and non-unionized positions to managers across the breadth of the Faculty, in collaboration with Labour Relations and Human Resources
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of office administration policies, procedures and processes
• Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
• Knowledge of collective agreements
• Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context
• Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
• Knowledge of management and supervisory practices
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Four-year bachelor's degree or honours degree, preferably in public administration or business or a related discipline, or certification in human resource management, or demonstrated leadership/management training
• Minimum of eight years of administrative experience in roles of increasing responsibility and complexity. Experience should include a minimum of three years of experience in academic administration combined with a minimum of five years of management and/or human resource management experience
