Telesat Lightspeed is a state-of-the-art satellite constellation of highly advanced satellites in low earth- orbit that will seamlessly integrate with terrestrial networks. We are growing quickly and are currently in need of an experienced and professional Program Scheduler/Controller to join our team.
The Telesat Lightspeed Program Scheduler/Controller will work with Lightspeed Program/Project Managers, Technical leads, and the Program Analyst. The Program Scheduler/Controller will report to the Manager of the Telesat Lightspeed Project Management Office and help drive the Lightspeed Program by performing routine project schedule updates and report generation.
The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Program Scheduler/Controller, and is enthusiastic about being part of a team that is diverse and at the top of its game.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Scheduler/Controller will work closely with Project Managers/Technical leads to perform the following activities:
Project Planning:
Work with Project Managers/Technical Leads to develop project schedules in Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) within the guidelines of the Lightspeed Master Schedule methodology as per the PMO directive. This may involve processing data in a variety of forms, from a variety of inputs; contract, SOW, technical baseline etc.
Maintain project schedules within Primavera and track upcoming deadlines/milestones
Work with engineering technical managers to status and maintain accurate schedules
Review updates and impacts with Project Managers/Technical Leads to ensure that the project is progressing within the confines of set deadlines and limitations before submission/commitment of the update.
Maintain project risk information within Primavera throughout the life of the program.
Support Evaluation and Monitoring of Program Progress:
Prepare and publish Project and Segment Level metrics and reports that support internal management and contractor reviews
Analyze program performance, schedule integration, critical path(s), and communicate status and risk to the program team
Perform schedule variance analysis against the project baseline participate with the PM/leads in root cause/corrective action analysis
Facilitate program planning, status, and review meetings
Support the creation and management of reports and documentation in relation to the project; including timelines, resource plans, and Project Management Plans
Monitor performance and determine improvement areas by developing key performance indicators for critical department metrics.
Suggest improvements to the PMO planning and controls framework that need to be re-addressed in order to maintain efficiency and control. Present their ideas to PMO Manager and assume the responsibility of implementing and managing these changes in the project management cycle.
Communications:
Responsible for creating and maintaining reports addressing all aspects of project development and completion. These reports may be used at various program levels.
Assist PMs and PMO in the Creation of standardized Program communications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree in related field (Engineering, Technology, Science, Project Management, Business, Finance), or equivalent combination of related experience and education (each two years of related experience can substitute for one year of education)
5+ years of related experience with project administration software and processes.
Asset:
Highly Desired: Proficient in the use of Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC)
Demonstrated experience working with schedules including an Integrated Master Schedule, including setup, updates, baseline management and Schedule Risk Analysis.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and written/oral communication skills.
Detail-oriented individual who can consistently meet deadlines and possess the ability to work independently in a large, remote and diverse team in a matrix work environment.
Experience with multi-disciplinary, high-performing system or product development teams
A team player, collaborative and independently driven
Must demonstrate a flexible, open-minded attitude and have strong interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical individuals
Experience effectively leading meetings and facilitating groups
Proficient in Microsoft Project
Proficient in Microsoft Excel - Intermediate Level (Pivot tables, formulas)
Proficient in Microsoft Power BI
Experience making presentations and creating reports
Bilingual in English and French an asset (but not required)
DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION
This role supports individual Project Managers/Technical Leads while direct reporting to the PMO Manager. Understanding when to elevate issues is key to this role.
Supervision Exercised
This role has no direct reports, but may work and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering, contracts, legal, and commercial teams.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are typical of an office environment.
Occasional travel, including international travel, is possible.
