Job Description

Working with the Town of Newmarket's Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate Will

1. Balance till and ensure adequate ticket stock is loaded in the printers for your shift. Check any notes left by other Box Office staff or administrative staff.

2. Answer telephone queries regarding events and have a pleasant telephone manner with excellent people skills

3. Work with the existing or any upgraded computerized ticketing system including familiarity with opening and closing of the system and account balancing.

4. Ability to use computerized cash handling systems including existing and upgraded systems.

5. Experience in cash, credit card, debit card and other purchasing methods and the ability to balance and close off transactions at the end of the shift.

6. Work with Box Office staff to ensure shifts are covered and event specific information is shared. Staff working evening and weekend shifts will keep the Box Office open until after the intermission.

7. Provide the Box Office Supervisor with any relevant documentation regarding the shift's activities or incidents.

8. Assist with all other duties as assigned in accordance with departmental and corporate objectives.

9. Other duties as assigned in accordance with Departmental guidelines

Job Requirements
  1. Demonstrated skills with computerized Box Office systems.

  2. Demonstrated people skills in dealing with patrons, staff and volunteers.

  3. Solid knowledge of cash counting, handling and deposit procedures.

  4. Class G driver's license in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business is preferred.

  5. Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.

  6. Smart Serve Certificate an asset.

  7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, problem solving and supervisory skills.

  8. Ability to provide accurate information about Town events.

  9. Availability/flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends and special events.

  10. May be required to work at alternative sites, based on special requests.

Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification
