The Ministry of Education, Robarts School for the Deaf in London, Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch, require ASL-English Interpreters to provide interpreting services in educational and resource services programs for students and staff who do not share the same language or culture.

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Provide interpreting services for Deaf students and staff in various settings.
  • Provide interpreting services for administrative and professional staff in sensitive and demanding situations.
  • Provide interpreting services for training sessions and workshops.


How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • Degree or Diploma in ASL-English Interpreting
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and English


Knowledge and Skills:

Your background and experience enables you to meet the following requirements:
  • Ability to interpret in a wide range of formal, informal, educational and professional settings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Professional Code of Ethics of the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI).
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting in both small and large group settings.
