Job Summary
Reporting to the Racing Secretary, the purpose of this position is to operate the race office during live racing. This position will perform administrative duties for the Standardbred Department and will be in contact with horse people and race officials throughout each race card. This position will also fill in as required during race draws conducted during the daytime shift.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for taking horse entries from trainers/owners for races via telephone. Use information from condition sheet to confirm race information (race date & condition eligibility
Be a liaison to the horsepeople and AGCO Judges.
Accept equipment & driver changes
Collect all claiming Authorizations
Contact trainers directly should any discrepancies or problems with an entry arise
Assist with Winner Circle presentations for OSS and Woodbine Stake races
Assist Horsemen's Bookkeeper when required. Duties may include but are not limited to processing claims and printing/dispersing purse cheques.
Assist the Stakes Manager when required. Duties may include but are not limited to tracking standings for stakes and other series, collecting nomination & sustaining fees, producing eligibility lists for stakes and series.
Using InCompass ensure accounts have been created for each horse, trainer, driver, owner
Work with the AGCO to confirm any scratches, ensuring regulations are being followed.
Maintain a professional relationship with internal departments including but not limited to Property Services, Guest Experience, Ontario Racing Management, and external clients such as trainers, drivers, owners and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Job Qualifications
General to advanced knowledge of the horse racing industry
General knowledge of horse racing rules and regulations
Ontario Secondary School Diploma
1-2 years office experience
Working with Standardbred horses
Working at a racetrack during live racing
Working in an office setting
Advance attention to detail.
General communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required to interact effectively with all levels of staff, horse trainers and owners.
General computer skills in a Windows environment
General ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
