As a Clerk - Purchasing within our Quartermaster Stores Department, you will be responsible for a variety of purchasing and administrative functions for Quartermaster Stores.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Performs the purchasing function for the bureau including assisting in the development of specifications for Requests for Quotations/Tenders and Quotation/Tender evaluations; completes purchase orders issued to vendors in accordance with Peel Regional Police By-Law and completes Region of Peel Express Purchase Orders and Blanket Purchase Orders requisitions, as required.
  • Maintains inventory stock levels by monitoring and forecasting stock needs and placing approved orders; monitors and liaises with vendors, Region of Peel Purchasing, Senior Officers/Managers and other members concerning orders and stock. Co-ordinates the return of damaged or broken items for warranty replacement.
  • Reviews and follows-up on minimum stock order levels and back-ordered goods.
  • Assists in the research and development of specifications, new items and specialized requirements.
  • Provides administrative and special knowledge support to the Uniform and Equipment Standards Committee as required.
  • Issues uniforms and equipment to applicable uniform and civilian members at the counter; reviews and fills requisitions from divisions/units for clothing and equipment and paper stock.
  • Verifies orders for shipping and receiving.
  • Maintains an up-to-date and accurate filing system.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

You are someone with:

  • A High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus additional courses in purchasing, office administration
  • A minimum of one year demonstrated experience in purchasing principles, including the Request for Quotation and Tender processes required
  • Working knowledge of computerized inventory systems preferred
  • MS Word-Basic
  • MS Excel-Basic
  • MS Outlook
  • Well-developed keyboarding and data entry skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform all activities

What we offer

The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $48,646.00 - $76,301.00 per annum and is complemented by a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance after a six (6) month waiting period; and the OMERS Pension Plan.
