About Us

Bedford Ready Mix has been in operation since 1985 and is a proud member of OSCO Concrete, a member of the OSCO Construction Group. In addition to its shared resources with other OSCO Concrete members, the Bedford location also hosts a four-bay repair facility capable of handling the largest OSCO Concrete pumps in the fleet. This collaboration has made Bedford and its other OSCO Concrete members, one of the largest concrete suppliers in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Bedford performs a mix of residential work along with large-scale industrial/commercial projects. OSCO Concrete also operates a large fleet of concrete pumps, including the largest concrete boom pump east of Montreal.

We are currently seeking a qualified Office Administrator to support our operations based in Sackville, Nova Scotia.

Job Summary

Reporting to the NS Operations Manager, the Office Administrator will represent the organization in a professional, positive and interpersonal manner as the first line of contact with our customers. This position is responsible for providing key day-to-day administrative support for the Ready-Mix sector on site including special projects, operational matters, and general administrative work. The Office Administrator must demonstrate a strong work ethic, be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage their time based on priorities and deadlines. This position will need to be a team player with a positive attitude, creativity, and the ability to provide outstanding customer service and value.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the organization in a professional, positive manner as the first line contact with our customers (internal and external)
  • Provides various support functions: Efficient and timely support to supervisor and/or department - may include various data entry functions, preparing payroll, spreadsheet preparation, reports, etc.
  • Type general correspondences in an accurate and timely manner: May include letters, memos, meeting minutes, purchase orders, etc
  • Assist in achieving departmental goals within targeted budgets by meeting deadlines for project completion using the most cost-effective method possible
  • General clerical duties including filing, photocopying, mail delivery/organization, sending/receiving courier packages
  • Utilize technology to optimize productivity and produce accurate reports, when necessary
  • Provide administrative support to the various internal teams
  • Additional duties as assigned

Technical Requirements

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education within a field related to administration / accounting would be an asset
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • High degree of confidentiality coupled with effective communication, both written and verbal

Business Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks
  • Experience working within the construction field would be considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and quality

Cultural Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative approach to working with others
  • Excellent business writing and grammar skills with the ability to create documents and presentations
