Would you like to launch your career with one of the most successful logistics organizations worldwide? Here at Kuehne+Nagel, our Halifax site is looking for a new Operational Care Specialist to join our Sea Logistics Export team.

Your Role

As the Sea Logistics Operational Care Specialist, you are responsible to manage all day-to-day activities for the transportation of goods, including Perishable products from port of destination to final consignee. Your responsibility is to communicate with Sea freight carriers, co-loaders, truckers, customs brokers and other vendors. You will provide solutions in case of any discrepancies, holds or delays in the movements of goods and will actively and concisely communicate with the Operational Customer Care team. Your role is focused on operational excellence supported with clear KPI’s. Your goal is to deliver an extraordinary customer and ensure transparency and neutrality towards all Canadian branches.

Your Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and monitor the transportation and movement of the goods for export
  • Provide detailed booking confirmation to Customer Care Representatives and Kuehne+Nagel destination offices when applicable
  • Prepare shipping instructions and any other necessary legal documents required for export: bill of lading, FDA, CERS request, certificate of origin, legalization, fumigation etc.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Sea freight carriers, co-loaders, SDS, truckers, customs brokers and other service providers
  • Arrange rush cheque payments and provide COD invoices to CCL for collection
  • Work closely with the Customer Care teams and proactively notifying in case of holds, delays and deviations
  • Create and update internal account handling instructions (out of scope)
  • Perform credit check and resolve missing credit approvals
  • Enter all cost and sell rates as soon as file is opened and prior vessel departure to ensure file profitability and on time billing
  • Data management (Link QT quote for each shipment and E- file all required documents)
  • Monitor holds or discrepancies in the movement of goods
  • Adhere to established department KPIs to ensure internal/external customer satisfaction
  • Arrange for insurance coverage for cargo and gathering claim documents if claims is involved
  • Implement and support Pharma Chain products and to ensure that all GXP training is completed and shipments are handled based on GXP requirements and compliance.
  • Ensure the Temperature accuracy is set for reefer shipments

Your Skills and Experiences

  • High School Degree/Diploma in supply chain management or similar field 
  • 2+ years of Sea Logistics Exports and Freight Forwarding experience
  • Advanced computer skills, including full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel)Administrative / data entry experience required
  • Certified in CIFFA, CITT or equivalent is preferred
