Job Summary
The Faculty of Management is recognized for its innovative, values-based approach to management education and research. Reporting to the Administrative Manager, this position provides administrative support to department chairs, department administrative manager, faculty members and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to general inquiries from faculty, administrators and students, by phone, email and in person. Direct students and other visitors to appropriate faculty member's offices.
  • Support department chairs with administration of processes and paperwork. Coordinate annual report submissions with department chairs and faculty. Assist faculty departments with textbook ordering and organization.
  • Onboard and support new part time faculty member hires, including introduction to Dalhousie systems, campus tours, providing connections to existing supports for teaching and research.
  • Provide financial and payroll support to faculty members which includes, Complete travel expense claims and research account requests, request up-to-date account information and balances for faculty and ensure paperwork is submitted to financial services in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate academic integrity (AI) activity in the Faculty and coordinate SLEQ process for the undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Book rooms for faculty members and students through the online campus bookings website and maintain an appropriate supply of the required office supplies for the faculty.
Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

Required Qualifications
  • Business/Office Administration Diploma plus, approximately three to five years' relevant experience in an office and/or administration positions (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while working independently.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite and the demonstrated ability to learn new programs.
Assets
  • Experience in a University or similarly complex environment.
  • Familiarity with Banner and other Dalhousie systems.
