Job Overview


As a Post-Production Assistant Editor, you will play an essential role in supporting the smooth and efficient progression of post-production workflows. Working closely with the Post-Production team, you will ensure clear communication between departments, track and manage project elements, and assist with technical tasks such as preparing files for review and delivery. You will also develop skills under the Finishing Editor's guidance, helping uphold the creative vision and meet project deadlines.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support Heads of Post-Production and Producers by facilitating clear communication and collaboration between departments.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of post-production processes, technical terminology, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with the Post-Production Coordinator to track and traffic elements between Production, Editorial Teams, QC House, Sound Team, and third-party vendors.
  • Monitor workflows between departments, ensuring seamless transitions and promptly addressing issues in collaboration with the Production Team and Department Heads.
  • Attend and take detailed notes during all post-production sessions, including spots, reviews, mixes, colour corrections, and QC checks.
  • Manage and maintain databases of post-production projects and assets for the department.
  • Prepare and output updated picture and audio files for review sessions and internal approvals.
  • Work with the Finishing Editor to learn and assist in conforming projects into full build formats while adhering to technical specifications.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering final deliverables to the Sound House, Composer, QC House, and client, ensuring they meet required standards.
  • Help prepare materials for festival and award submissions, including file formats and specifications.
  • Conduct initial quality control checks, flagging potential issues or technical errors for review.
  • Assist in the final delivery of all post-production elements to the client, ensuring deadlines are met.


Skills and Experience


  • Previous experience or internship in post-production, particularly in animation or film.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard post-production workflows and tools.
  • Basic understanding of post-production processes, including file preparation, review sessions, and final deliverables.
  • Proficiency in editing software such as Avid, Adobe Premiere, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Knowledge of file formats, codecs, and specifications for broadcast or streaming platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and note-taking during post-production sessions.
  • Excellent attention to detail for managing databases, assets, and schedules.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as ShotGrid, Frame.io, or Aspera (preferred).
  • Degree or diploma in Film, Animation, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience with festival or award submissions (preferred).
  • Knowledge of localization processes like dubbing or closed captioning (preferred).

The wage range for this role reflects compensation across all of ICON’s projects. The final salary will be determined based on the specific position, the current show assignment, and the applicant’s experience and portfolio. This range accounts for varying levels of experience and responsibilities.
