Portfolio Accountant

Based in Vancouver the Portfolio Accountant will report directly to the Controller, Investment Management. As an integral member of the Portfolio Accounting Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial accounting and administrative support to the team. We are looking for a candidate with a strong attention to detail and the ability to organize, prioritize and manage time in a fast-paced environment working towards bringing tasks to completion.

 As a Portfolio Accountant You Will:  

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date portfolio records by preparing and assisting with monthly journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
  • Consolidate monthly debt reporting between various groups
  • Assist in the compilation of the monthly and quarterly financial statements and reporting packages
  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements for multiple entities
  • Prepare real estate transaction entries, funding packages and help facilitate wire payments
  • Prepare and maintain monthly government and regulatory filings (ie. HST/GST/QST returns, Statistics Canada reports)
  • Maintenance of the financial records for intercompany transactions, contributions, distributions, legal and tax compliance
  • Assist in preparation of working papers for year-end audit
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget and forecast reporting
  • Support ad-hoc and various projects as they arise

 Your Background:  

  • Enrolled in mid-level of the CPA program
  • 2+ years related experience in accounting/financial analysis
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to effectively partner and liaise with all levels of the business and develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with internal team members and external contacts
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Prior experience with Yardi Voyager and PowerBI is an asset

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $60,000 to $78,000.

The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
