Position: Communication and Content Specialist

Department: Marketing

Location: Richmond, BC, Canada

Reports to: Senior Manager, Marketing


Purpose:


The Marketing Communications and Content Specialist is responsible for helping to support the marketing team in the creation, production, and distribution of content for social media, brochures, reports, etc. They are on top of important ongoing activities, such as updating reports, collating project opening information, and writing topical and informative posts. They are an integral member of the team, who contributes to the overall accuracy, quality, and output of the marketing team. WhiteWater as a market leader has important relationships with industry associations and the marketing communications and content specialist helps us manage these, by developing a relationship through regular communication. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in developing their content marketing experience and is perfect for a natural networker who is curious, keen to learn, and very organized.

Essential Responsibilities:


The Communications and Content Specialist is responsible for the following:

Collateral Creation:

  • Contribute to topic ideation for posts, articles, and advertorials.
  • Write, proofread, and update public relations and marketing materials and oversee their distribution.
  • Write, edit, and update content for web site, including: press releases, project profiles, product pages, and other external communications; ability to create pages in CMS required.
  • Conduct print and video interviews with stakeholders for use in materials.
  • Ensure consistent brand tone/voice across all marketing collateral, as well as accuracy.


Social Media:

  • Under the guidance of and with support from the Marketing team, develop and maintain social calendar.
  • Help to maintain WhiteWater's social media presence on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook by researching content, writing engaging posts, and coordinating the development of accompanying photos and/or videos.
  • Liaising with other WhiteWater offices on translations, details, etc. to support regional social media.

Email Marketing:

  • Responsible for the creation and distribution of seasonal and campaign related newsletters, from writing stories, to gathering content and visuals to sending it out to our subscribers, with team input as needed.

Market Research:

  • Competitive Intelligence
    • Read industry publications, both print and digital, to stay up to date on what's happening in the market.
    • Research key markets for opportunities including data, lists, industry forums and events, key influencers and decision makers
  • Stay up to date on project openings and details, maintaining information databases.
  • Communicate with clients on images, videos, logos, and testimonials.

Award Entries and Industry Memberships:

  • Work with team to coordinate the submission of award entries.
  • Track all of our speaker opportunities and support/coordinate speaker submissions and events.


Asset Management:

  • Ensure multimedia libraries are kept up to date with appropriate labels and tags.
  • Manage brochure inventory and version control.


Internal Communications

  • Support HR with internal communications including quarterly communication sessions, with writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Help keep Marketing intranet (SharePoint) homepage content fresh.

Qualifications & Experience


  • 3-5 years of working experience in similar Marketing role.
  • 1-2 years social media and web applications experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing and/or Communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional grammar, spelling, and accuracy; proofing attention to details.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to independently manage schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of WordPress.
  • Video editing skills are a bonus.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
