Job Summary | This position designs and leads a variety of digital strategies and tools to support the College's communication and enrolment goals including the CNC website and Student Information Hub. Leading collaborative, cross-departmental teams, this position supervises plans, leads, and executes digital strategy including producing materials/products/structures/plans for digital consumption. They maintain familiarity with emerging trends and technologies and advocate for the use of best practices in the digital space. The work and decisions of the position are highly visible and have direct repercussions on the goals and efficacy of CNC's educational mandate including a significant impact on CNC's brand, reputation, enrolment, and recruitment efforts. Under the direction of the Director and Manager, Web & Digital and in collaboration with faculty and staff this position leads website and Student Information Hub development, providing creative and technical support from design to implementation. This includes supervising the creation process of a wide variety of content for multiple channels and mediums (digital, social media, print, web, etc.) and provide recommendations to stakeholders on visual and creative direction with a focus on accessibility and user experience (UI/UX). |
Specific Duties | Lead, motivate and supervise others within the College to be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities. • Lead and supervise the creation of plans, policy and research in: effective digital design, web/digital accessibility, and user experience (UI/UX) best practices and communications methods, and education trends within Canada while considering international aspects. • Author and govern standards, lead training and support website users while overseeing written technical and graphics guidelines and standards for all College web pages and the Student Information Hub. This includes collaboration with subject matter experts in various fields including marketing, recruitment, media etc. • Supervise the production, accuracy, quality control methods, and publishing of digital content. • Lead the assessment and deployment of new standards, technologies and trends, and provide guidance on best practices to determine the best direction for the website and other digital service adoption/implementation. • Author drafts for request for proposals (RFPs) and assist in the subsequent management of contracts with successful parties (contractors, vendors, external partners) on behalf of the College with relation to website and digital services projects in conjunction with Information Technology personnel. • Supervise the setup and maintenance of digital services, including but not limited to the website CMS (Sitefinity), website administration tools and analytics, the Student Information Hub and other mobile apps, and newsletters. • Lead, supervise and govern frontend development of the CNC website, Student Information Hub, and other digital services. • Lead and manage the identifying, troubleshooting and remediation of website issues/bugs and digital services in collaboration with Web Developer roles, providing direction and supervision. • Manage and govern the creation of online forms for gathering of information - ensuring compliance and adherence to relevant Privacy Acts. • Govern and oversee execution of administrative functions for all aspects of UI/UX development and content for CNC's digital platforms. • Govern and administer user accounts and passwords for web and Student Information Hub publishers and content creators. • Govern and ensure adherence to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and other relevant accessibility standards. • Author, maintain, and ensure adherence to Design System Guide and other relevant brand standards. • Provide Search Engine Optimization of the website and other digital services. • Monitor and provide reports on the performance of digital services in their portfolio. • Assist with administration of social accounts under guidance of web and social role, including production of content/graphics/video, scheduling of posts, engaging with followers. • Ensure collaboration with every department, school, and region with relation to the College's website and other digital services. • Primary liaison for Marketing & Events with Information Technology Services. • Key backup for other team members. • Travel to regional campuses on a quarterly basis for training and project work. • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities. • You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues. • Other related duties as assigned by Manager, or designate. |
Skills & Qualifications | • Recognized two (2 ) year diploma in Web Design, User Experience Design, or Web Development • 4 years or more experience working in web design development and management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered with preference given to candidates who have: o successfully completed a Web Design professional program; o experience working in the post-secondary sector o strong project management, graphic design, photography and storytelling abilities o minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory or project management role • Expert proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Website Accessibility Initiative (WAI-ARIA), jQuery, API Web integration, Wireframe Software (XD/Figma), Content Management System Administration, Google Analytics, mobile/responsive web design and current WCAG Standards • Advanced proficiency in the following applications preferred: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Premiere Pro), Visual Studio, Progress Sitefinity; experience with PHP, .NET will be considered an asset • Ability to communicate complex and technical ideas to others in plain language • Strong customer service focus (excellent customer service skills; motivated to provide quality service and technical support) • Knowledge of marketing/digital marketing principles • Ability to act as a brand and design owner • Ability to effectively manage time and schedules • Ability to create and analyze reports • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team • Ability to evaluate and adopt new and evolving website technologies • Ability to create, compose, proofread and edit written materials • Knowledge and understanding of current authoring languages, editing and authoring tools and related website technologies • Knowledge of graphics creation and manipulation optimized for palette, size, and speed of download • Knowledge of design principles, including page layout, typography, and colour theory, as they apply to the web • Project and change management skills • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community |
