At SMS Equipment our Service Advisor, Truck Shop is a key player in providing administrative support of the day-to-day planning and coordination maintenance activities of the Truck Shop. They will oversee work orders and prepare, submit and follow up on all Truck Shop warranty claims. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their experience, productivity and positivity to the team. This position is based in Fort McMurray, AB.

This role is a temporary maternity leave coverage until March 2026.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 per year.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Safety and Environment. Working with the SMS Equipment safety team, ensures all activities are in accordance with OHSE regulations as well as consistent with company policies and procedures. Maintain safety documentation and send to safety office where applicable.

  • Warranty. Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions. Manage all available warranty coverage on machines, address any Factory Campaigns or Parts and Service News Bulletins. Provide warranty information for warranty claims, including work orders, pictures, and timecards.

  • Work Order. Prepare inventory parts orders and once job is complete generate form for the return of all unused parts. When vehicles require third party services the advisor will request PO to be generated. These will be attached to work order once work is complete. Advisor will be responsible for parts core collection and sent to warehouse for credit. Assist in back-order parts from the Factory. Reviews time tracker for accurate charges of time, parts and sublets and ensures work orders are closed in a reasonable time.

  • Administrative Tasks. Use Microsoft Office to develop spreadsheets, and prepare reports, memos, and documents. Maintain incoming factory truck delivery documentation. Back-up electronic files created to the truck department into network server. Maintain file duplicate time, receiver reports, requisitions and packing slips. Maintain and Schedule shop equipment certifications.

Qualifications

This role requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a relevant role. Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge of equipment maintenance systems and troubleshooting.
  • A focus on quality, productivity, and maximizing machine availability.
  • Solid understanding of safety policies and regulations.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
