The School of Health and Life Sciences is looking for a self-motivated individual with a great attitude to provide administrative support for the school's leadership and program staff. As the successful candidate, you will be confident in working independently and interacting with staff, students and other stakeholders. You will exercise good judgment, have the ability to adapt to change and be skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Strong time-management skills and an aptitude for flexibility and life-long learning will be necessary; as will, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicates and participates as a team with school and program leadership, other Operations and Program Administrative Assistants, and other SHLS staff to ensure quality and consistent processes for the programs/business functions in the school.
  • Coordinating and organizing school and program leadership commitments with calendar and meeting invites
  • Provide administrative support for standing school and program meetings as required
  • Provide administrative support for student placement processes and preceptor education initiatives
  • Plan and organize school and program events
  • Collaborates with other SHLS staff to identify and engage in continuous improvement initiatives for administrative opportunities to enhance all facets of the student experience which may include strategic enrolment management, waitlists, course, and section management

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong Organizational Skills: Exhibit effective time management, prioritization, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Advanced Microsoft Office Suite product knowledge is required.
  • Effective Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate the ability to analyze and solve complex challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Business, Office Administration or other related discipline.
  • Experience in an administrative role
  • Experience with PeopleSoft would be an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $ 48,257.04- $ 62,451.48 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Administrative Support V).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
